Child abuse cases are increasing by the day. However, a large number of children do not complain or bring the problem to light as they may be threatened or blackmailed.

In an effort to educate parents and save abused children, the Bangalore Baptist hospital on Friday inaugurated the BBH-Collaborative child response unit (BBH-CCRU) called the Bala Suraskha. Its objective is to help and support children up to 18 years of age, who are suspected to have been physically, sexually or emotionally abused.

"Over the past few months we have undergone training sessions by people involved in this field to understand the magnitude and further extended the initiative to start a COLLABORATIVE CHILD RESPONSE UNIT named ‘BAPTIST BALA SURAKSHA (BBS)’. The new unit was inaugurated by.BBS is multidisciplinary service which will provide holistic medical ,psychological ,social and legal support to children up to 18 years of age who are suspects or victims of physical ,sexual or emotional abuse in the best interest of children and their concerned families. Children who are victims or suspects of child abuse will be interviewed by forensic interview methodology in a child friendly manner. It also aims at creating awareness amongst the general public on this issue."
