Calcutta Social Project helplines for women in india has been working with under privileged mothers and children living in slum areas since the last 40 years. Slum dwellers lack a lot of basic necessites unlike others. Their living standard, financial situation and social standards are quite poor. Our helplines for women in india organisation aims to empower the women and children and provide them a better chance in life.Slum-dwellers lack the secure employment of large-scale organized industry. They are mostly engaged as domestic servants, sweepers, daily wage laborers, petty traders, etc. Their monthly income ranges between INR 300 and INR 1000, enabling a hand- to- mouth existence at best. The worst victims of this existence are women and children. We have various targeted programs that handle these situations. Our Project works in the slums of Manoharpukur Road, Motilal Nehru Road, Panditiya, Garcha in South Calcutta and in poverty ridden backward area of East Calcutta called Paschim Chowbaga. It also works with street children on Madan Street near Chandni Market, Bowbazar in Central Calcutta, Chetla (Kalighat) and Harish Mukherji Road in Bhowanipur.
